Kim Heechul voiced his opinion that dealing with malicious comments should be done like singer IU.
On JTBC's entertainment show "The Love of 7.7 Billion," which aired on Tuesday, he talked about "malicious comments."
While sharing his sad feelings about the late Sulli and Goo Hara, who died after suffering of pain in malicious comments, Tyler, a native of the U.S., asked if the K-pop company had any institutional protection for psychological stability of its celebrities.
In response, Kim Heechul of SM Entertainment said, "Our company is a big company. There is a good mental system for malicious comments. There are a lot of things that I do personally, such as carefully providing counseling with teachers, creating a gathering place for all of us," he said, explaining the company's support. "But the biggest problem with this malicious comment is that even if the company, the competent teacher, the good friend, everyone helps, everything goes away with one malicious comment," he said.
Kim Heechul then said, "So the only thing I can do is to sue malicious comments, but it's not as easy as I thought to sue."
He says, "When I talk about malicious comments, I always wish I could deal with them like IU. IU doesn't give any mercy at all," he noted.
Kim Heechul then released a text message he shared with IU before the recording. Kim Heechul asked IU, "Wouldn't it be uncomfortable to talk about IU, a celebrity I think is the coolest to handle malicious comments?" and IU explained that she allowed her to "do as much as you want~~"
Kim Heechul said, "I think we should do it without mercy like IU," adding, "IU is a friend who overcame rumors and acts wisely."
"I heard IU sued everything. But when they meet the assailant, they complain about his unfortunate situation and mental stress caused by the accusation, and rather turn IU, the victim, into the perpetrator. IU said she was so embarrassed to see that," he said.
